WilliamP Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 When overclocking an I7-920 is Multi Threading to be enabled or disabled?
El_Capitan Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 Do you mean Hyperthreading? It doesn't matter. Overclock with hyperthreading off, first. When you reach a stable overclock, turn it on and see if your system is still stable. I have mine overclocked with hyperthreading on. R1P5AW Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 Keep HT on. Will produce more heat and take more volts though
WilliamP Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 Right now it is Enabled and doesn't want to go above 3.7. On my Gigabyte mobo it's seems to be called multi threading.

WilliamP Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 I had the Vcore above 1.3 ,DRAM is at 1.64 ,QPI is 1.26.

WilliamP Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 I tried that but it still won't go above 3.74.
R1P5AW Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 Sorry to say but not all chips see 4.0GHz Try to keep playing around with the voltage
dling Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 Sorry to say but not all chips see 4.0GHz Try to keep playing around with the voltage That correct, it took me 3 cpu's to get there and two different motherboards. I kinda feel my MB was the problem after all. Currently I'm at 4.05gig vcore1.26 and stable. I would not disable HT unless the temps are just to high. That would be like turning off 4 processors.
