Noctua NH-U9B SE2 for a Phenom II X4 955

I was looking at it because

a) It's low noise.

b) It performs well.

c) Noctua seems to be a well respected brand.

 

However, it has one con: It's $60.00. Is it worth the price or should I get something less expensive? Note that this is for an upcoming build. I'm pretty excited on that front.

it doesnt seem to be an overkill unless u are going for the NH-D14,i think it worth it.

I know the D14 would be overkill. You could put the D14 on the sun and cause another ice age.

 

Will it be suitable for overclocking?

It's a great cooler and will get you a nice overclock. but at that price point you'd be better off getting something else.

$60 isn't bad. I paid $90 for my d14. Yes that's a lot, but I don't have to worry about cooling any CPU that i can squeeze into my socket 1366 mobo

 

I deem it a worthy investment

 

But back on topic, the fit and finish of my d14 is top notch. so you won't be disappointed with the quality and the thing is whisper quiet. So i think you'l be satisfied with your decision

yes i know, i was speaking about my experiences with the d14, and since noctua makes the U9B as well, you shouldn't be disappointed
