Looking to build minniature engine

Well basically I want to start with building a model engine (small one) I'm looking at buying a kit to do it. I don't have the tools to build one from scratch (or the know how for that matter) so I was wanting to build one with a kid (get the parts from the kit and put it together my self) I know its kind of lame because I'm not really doing anything other than putting it together but I think it will be kind of cool.

 

Anyway does anyone know where I can find a place to buy a kit like this? All I seem to be able to find are cheap kits that don't actually build a working engine.

 

Anywho if anyone is any info on this sort of thing hollar!

how small? like, model car RC small, or larger such as a 250cc or 600cc (like a small bike engine). Not sure about the kits, though.

Those would be micro engines. They range in price from a couple hundred to a couple thousand.

why not make an electric motor?? (maybe a big enough one to propel your lawnmower?) Who needs more gas burners??
