nugga Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 Well i just bought my Scythe Muashi VGA cooler for my radeon 4890. I'm still waiting for the package to come: But I read at scythe-eu.com that it's recommended to use the original Heatsink to cool the VR/MosFET. So my question is what is the VR/MosFET. And then i saw that you have to but some heatsink at the memory on your card. How can i tell were the memory is? Thansk for the help
IVIYTH0S Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 The musashi doesn't have little tiny stick on sinks for the memory?? Usually aftermarket coolers have come with small ram heatsinks

Thansk for the help I don't think you'll be able to use the original heatsink for the voltage regulator mosfets but you do get a full set of stick on heatsinks with the Musashi, here. Look at this photograph from a past OCC review, probably not exactly the same as yours but it won't be far off. The memory is quite easy to pick out, it's the eight large black IC's around the GPU, your card will look similar. The VR/Mosfets will, like this card, have to be in contact with the heatsink, they are the small components towards the back of the card that sit under that white strip of tape. You'll have to stick heatsinks to all these components but hopefully the instructions with the Musashi will help you. Hope that helps. Cheers Paul

Boinker Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 If any doubt on the heatsinks enzotech makes some very nice VGA memory coolers. they are availble on the egg. Its what I used on my GTX260 aftermarket cooler. you may have to cut the heatsinks down to size but they still work great.
