Phil Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 I admit much of the current fad (yes for many I think it's just a fad) about being "green" is based on global warming. However clean renewable energy was a goal for a lot of us long before global warming took center stage. Global warming is only one of many compelling reasons to change our energy thinking. Andrewr05 Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 Agreed, as often as I do un-green things I really would like to get off "the grid" and rely less on grid power. Even if I just offset the power I use for the crap in my room especially my computer/TV usage.
suchuwato Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 Global warming is only one of many compelling reasons to change our energy thinking. I live near a Nuclear power station (Sizewell) that's planning a new EPR reactor, and I'm all for it. Nuclear is the only viable short-medium term solution around. Even long term, if we consider the use of fusion reactors running on Deuterium or similar, with a suitable waste solution.
