ccokeman Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Anything will be better than stock. I have a TRUE and Noctua NH-U12 and I idle at 31 to 32 C in a well ventilated case in a 75F room. Loads are dependent on voltage and clock speed but the TRUE on a DO 920 at 4.1 does in the mid 60's C under load. Not sure how that cooler will do since I dont have any practical experience with it. Stock cpu coolers are made to just meet the bare minimum requirements, to cool your cpu. Most all after market cpu coolers are made to surpass the stocks, by far! i7's do run hot, and will do better with liquid cooling, but if your sticking with air, and have a somewhat wide case (8" or more), I would recommend at least a 120mm rifle type, preferably that uses 2 fans instead of just one. N.E.A Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 What coolers would you guys recommend that are in the 30-40 range? how about ocz vandetta 2 ...i have and it keep my 920 very cool ..and the room temp here is like 30 without ac ...you can try cooler master v8 or v8 ..and asus Triton 88 they all will do just fine...........
