Pax3 Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 (edited) Hi there, I've got a E2180 + Asus P5K-SE + XFX 9600GT + 4Gb Ram + 55OW power, and I've been running my PC on 2,8Ghz. I know that a E2180 can easily run on 3,0Ghz, but I never managed to get my PC stable at that rate. Everything was fine for a whole year until a couple of days ago, when my BIOS reset for the first time. Now, everytime I switch my PC on it resets the processor values back to the default 2,0Ghz and my system clock goes bananas. Suddenly it marks December 2001, 00h00, and it won't update, even if I force it to. I tried running my PC at 2,5Ghz, and even at that rate it will reset to default values next time I turn my PC on. What went suddenly wrong??? Thx Edited July 23, 2009 by Pax3
PingoPongo Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 Maybe the CMOS battery died?
kurosen Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 Sounds like the CMOS battery died.... Replace the battery and you should be good to go. I've attached a pic of where on your mobo the battery is located... Yes, I got carried away with the circles....

Verran Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 I agree, certainly sounds like the battery died. Either that, or someone set your CMOS reset jumper on your board when you weren't looking

OwinC Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 I forgot about resetting the jumper back. And had the same problem. On the same board no doubt.
