hi6908 Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 Current setup: Intel q9650 @3.5ghz Dual evga 9500gt 2x2 800mhz ram xfx 750i sli WD green 1tb Freezer pro 7 1x 120mm outtake 1x 80mm outtake 1x 120mm intake The Freezer pro 7 is pushing air out the back along with the other two outtake fans. The intake fan is being blocked by the hard drive rack, and so isn't doing much good. I saw an intake fan (Titan TTC-HDC5 HDD & System Cooler - Retail ) that would go in the cd drive slots I'm not using, right in front of the cpu. If i got this, would it make a significant difference? hi6908 Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 I have a SIGMA LAVIE case, and I don't think switching the side fan would help, just because it is fairly far to the back of the case. Pic is attached, yellow circled fan is intake, red circled is outtake. The PSU exhaust is blowing down on the cpu, so that isn't helping. hi6908 Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 Ok, I fixed up the wires and flipped the case window around so the fan is on the bottom above the graphics cards(gpus got over 60C). I added another fan on top of the 80mm side fan, both outputting (seems to work better that way). I wedged a 60mm in the 3.5 bays, cause I'll never use them anyway. All the power supplies I have tested, and pretty much all power supplies at the moment, pull air into the power supply from the case and exhaust it out the rear! Nuclear Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 Where is your case located in your room? Does it get cool air where it sits? One thing to remember about case fans is that you need balance. It's okay to have a slightly negative or positive pressure, but you don't won't to throw things too far out of wack. Too many intake fans tends to overwhelm the exhaust and you end up with a case full of circulating hot air, the cool air you bring in becomes warm instantly after entering the case. You can test this by removing your side panel, if your temps go down then you need more exhaust fans, if they stay the same then you are okay and you have a good balance. Lowered voltages, seems to be stable and slightly cooler(2C).
