Verran Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 327, with another 251 listed as "candidates". And that's just what we have confirmed. Estimates based on averages applied to the number of stars we currently know of suggest the number is in the "millions of billions" for extrasolar planets in our universe. Seriously, just go outside and count the stars. Even if there's only one planet per one hundreds stars, that's a lot of planets! redtigerdragon Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 Right, but they could all just be stars. Anyways I do believe there is life out there. Here's a thought, why aren't stars planets? As someone already pointed out, we have organisms here that can survive extremes. Why not something that lives on a star?
Fogel Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 If you can argue that than how can you not believe that life outside earth doesn't exit? If life can exist on our own planet where we as humans cannot (e.g. deep sea creatures) than one conclude that life isn't bound by the same constraints that we are.
