why should 3% of the world have more buying power than the other 97% combined? it shouldn't. people should be less greedy. communism works, if you remove the absolute power corrupts absolutely factor. which is inherently a human flaw.

You just shot down your own argument. You want to remove something that you state is "inherently a human flaw". Someone will always be in charge, someone will always takeover, the question is how are they going to be in charge?

 

no one needs to make a couple a million a year, it only takes away from those that can't. the more money these big executives make, the less there is for everyone else. its ridiculous to know that someone sitting an office (or a golf course) is making more in a year than most people make in 10 years. minimum wage should be increased to 20 dollars an hour. maximum wage should be capped to a couple million. everyone is happy, except the 3 percent who are making more than that. majority rules.

I'm not going to repeat what others said about the max. About minimum wage though, who makes it? Are the majority of people making minimum wage the main income earners in a family? No (though there may be a few), around here it's either second income earners or high school students meaning they don't need to make 20 dollars an hour. Not to mention the fact that an increase like that would likely mean that smaller companies would have to cut half to a third of their workers in order to pay them. That would cause higher unemployment and people would need to be 2 - 3 times more productive to make up for less workers.

$20 is completely unrealistic, even $15 is pushing it...

Oh yeah!! I wish minimum wage was $20 an hour. I remember when I got my first job and got paid $3.75 an hour or so.

Would have been great to buy a house at age 16 making $20 an hour. Not to mention car insurance and....

As Kash said, the moment they secede, it's fair game under the Geneva Conventions. Just the threat of force would be more than enough. If that didn't work, do you think that the National Guard will be able to stand up the brunt of the combined military forces? Let alone local militias? Jim Bob and his modified AR-15 stand little chance.

The corporate elite want nothing more than socialism for themselves and capitalism for everyone else, it's that simple. Socialism saved my American Dad's life in the United Kingdom, the NHS (National Health Service) is a socialist institution.

 

Why do we pay our taxes in the USA and still need to pay for health care? Please do not reply back and say the Police, Fire and Ambulance blah blah blah because then I'm going to have to ask you why does our government give billions in U.S. tax dollars to a foreign government that has according to the UN, Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch committed acts of genocide for the past 60 years?

 

Look at all these governors saying no to the stimulus money whilst many people in their own constituencies are starving and homeless, Bobby Jindal is a perfect example.

so opposition is a bad thing? I took your statement and replied to each part. I tried to do it in a way that would facilitate constructive conversation as well. If I was sarcastic I'm sorry, but sarcasm does seem to come across much harsher on the internet since you don't read things the same way the writer would say it.

With your ridiculous, unsubstantiated ideas, I would suggest you avoid discussing politics in real life as well. Go and educate yourself, listen to reason and internalize a concept called practicality, and then, and only then, think about discussing big boy topics.

Kash, believe it or not there is more than one right way to do something. i didn't say i had all the answers. i doubt you do either. simply because my views differ from your doesn't make them ridiculous. my suggestion to you would be to conduct yourself in a manner a bit more becoming of OCC staff, instead of attacking me for my political view.
