Decent Overclocking Ram Needed

Hi, got a UD3R Gigabyte motherboard and an E8400.

I'm looking into some DDR2 RAM to do as much overclocking as possible (looking to reach 4GHz or even over).

Every RAM kit I'm looking at has pros and cons, I just want one that's gonna be good for overclocking and preferably a 4GB kit?

my ram got my cpu to 4ghz and I have a quad so there's one recommendation :P (I have a lower multiplier too, so you'd be able to break 4ghz effortlessly

RAM kits that are rated at higher frequencies are better for overclocking because they are designed to be able to handle the frequency of overclocked CPUs. I'd pick at least 1066MHz RAM to overclock to that high.

well for a chip with a high fsb to start like the 45nm intels but for a chip like yours 800mhz is just fine

Any 2x2 GB kit that's rated for DDR2-1066 will be more than enough to take your E8400 to it's limits. There's not much of a chance you'll get over 533 FSB.

I have Corsair Dominator DDR2 1066. You can lower your multiplier & push your FSB high... I have OC'd ths RAM to 1167 as has Corsair on their website using Gigabyte boards. Those sticks including the 2x2Gb kit are dirt cheap now too. :)

Most decent DDR2-800 modules will have no trouble OC'ing up to 1066.

All you need to do is raise the voltage and loosen timings if you need to.

Here are some very good sticks of 2x2GB DDR2-800.

idk most of those sticks have pretty high stock rated timings for 800mhz, I'd get sticks that are stock rated for 4-4-4-12 if they want have a chance as loosing to 5-5-5-15 and making it to 1066mhz

The Mushkin's scale unbelievably well.

I remember reading a review somewhere where they got CAS down to 3 at 1066MHz on a suicide run.

I think they're fine.

ya the next ram I'll be buying will be Mushkin, I used be all Corsair (since my friend got me into computer building, and he only bought Corsairs). This build was my first with OCZ and I love them. I definitely want to Mushkin, and I originally wanted to try Crucial Ballistix ram but I hear they aren't as good as they once were.

I'm sure those three you posted would be the companies to make quality enough memory to be able to pull off overclocks like that, I was just considering every possible angle of the situation. I would suck to get the memory at 800mhz and only get to maybe 900mhz or 950mhz and be held back :(

Or he could just spend a few dollars more for DDR2-1066 and not worry about OCing the RAM at all.
