markpeterson59 Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 Hey guys, This is my fist time in this forum, and I am really exited. I'm a beginner photographer and I'm thinking in buying my first canon camera. Most of what I do is portrait, Wedding and fashion photography and I'm still confused which canon camera should i buy. My options are EOS 40D, EOS 450D. Please let me know which one do you think is the best camera for me? My friend refer me one site provides for digital camera reviews. Also, what kind of lenses you recommend would be better to get for this camera?
suchuwato Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 If you're getting a Canon, don't get the kit lens, unless you find a really good deal on one. If you're a beginner get the 450 and a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Lens or something similar for portraits.
Silverfox Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 If you're getting a Canon, don't get the kit lens, unless you find a really good deal on one. If you're a beginner get the 450 and a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Lens or something similar for portraits. I have a 350D and while the kit lens can take some good photos, it's utter pants. Steer well clear or be disappointed. My personal preference would be a Nikon D80 right now, as the kit lens is superb and you have the image stabiliser built into the camera body rather than the lens (iirc). Afraid not. I wish it did have that option though, just for if a lens lacked VR. I think it's the Sony DSLR's that have that built in to the body. BionicSniper Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Go and make sure you like how the cameras feel in your hands first!!! When i started to get really serious into photography a big tip that i got before i commited to cannon or nikon was to go see which felt better to hold. I HATED THE CANNONS. It really makes a HUGH difference when you have to hold them for hours on end. I shot all of the sports games for my high school and also spent countless hours just walking around town taking photos. Made some nice cash from senior pictures as well. I shoot with a d40 and a d80 and I use a f1.8 50mm, a 18-70 kit lense (which is really sharp for what i use it for) and then the old 80-200 f2.8 that stays on my d80. When i'm shooting an event or something similar I have my d80 with the 2.8 zoom and then my d40 with the 18-70. This lets me cover a huge focal range without having to switch lenses
