OtisN89 Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 Actually if you are just using two sticks it is recommended that you use the orange slots for stability and overclocking. I know theres alot of guys who run 4 dimms, but I'm not sure how it affects overclocking.
kulo Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 using 2 dimms is the best for oc at the mo
krazypoloc Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 I used to OC with 4 sticks of OCZ stuff. More trouble than its worth IMO. Let me guess you are running Vista?
dwd Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 well im not running vista, im running windows xp sp2, and i use the pc mainly for games.. thats why i was thinking upgrade for 4gb.
OtisN89 Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 Do you play any games that use all of the 2GBs you already have? I've never been close to using all of mine, granted the most intensive game I play is AoE 3.
Coors Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 I doubt you will see any difference in gaming going from 2gb to 4gb. Maybe if you were using Vista but with XP I doubt it.
bldegle2 Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 xp is gonna only recognize/acknowledge about 3.2 gig of the 4 gig anyway....and as others have mentioned, it will affect your clockage, if that is what you are planning.. in fact, you may find out that it won't workie right..... laterz
greatscott68 Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 Remember that the more things you add to an equation - the more things that can go wrong. You could have 4 sticks of memory, with one being a turd...and that turd will hold back your OC. Everything else that's been said applies as well - especially the part about only 3.2 gigs being recognized. A pair of 2 gig sticks is the way to go for your platform and gaming needs.
