Gipse Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 Hi, I need a new graphic card urgently... I can get both of them (used) for the same price: 1. http://www.sapphiretech.com/us/products/pr...?gpid=136&grp=3 or 2. http://geizhals.at/deutschland/a221644.html I will use watercooling for GPU and Mem. So what is the best deal? Thanks for your help! Gipse edit: I will replace my old venice with a x2 3800+ this week. This one should to 2.8GHz ~ 3.0GHz stable. CPDMF Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 Must be personal feelings. Looking at the price, the 7950 seems a little on the high side. I'm sure you could get an 8800GTS 320MB for around the same money and have a lot better card than the 7950. I just switched from a 7950GT that would clock to 740/800 to an 8800GTS and it was a pretty big jump.
Gipse Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 Hi, this is the best price I could find for the 8800gts: http://geizhals.at/deutschland/a238849.html The price for the cards (USED) mentioned above is 170€ + around 60€ for the water cooler. Is it worth to spend more money (I am on a very clos budget). Gipse
powsmowl Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 take the 8800GTS..if you dont upgrade too often its more futureproof
CPDMF Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 I just can't see spending 230 on a used card and waterblock when an air cooled 8800GTS costs the same and will beat it hands down. Water cooling is great, but not when it costs you performance.
p0tter Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 imo full cover blocks are a waste, too much added heat to a loop and the gains are mininal. I had a DD Koosah on my 7900 and didnt get any mhz (its not volt-modd). Go with the 8800GTS, the stock cooler is decent.
suedenim Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 The way the prices are right now it would seem foolish to not make the extra stretch to the 8800GTS. If the budget is real tight then I'd seriously consider dropping the water cooling for the DX9 cards you are looking at and putting it aside for the next upgrade. suedenim Posted May 23, 2007 Posted May 23, 2007 Not too shaby a price but its only really got 512MB if you SLI. Is the 8800 that much more?
