RubberDuck Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 Need a new raditor for my setup ( would like a 2 fan setup ). What do you guys recommend ???
carholmes Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 Swiftech MCR 220, Black Ice GTS240, or if you're willing to spend more the thermochill PA 120.2. Some rads perform differently with different fans. for example a MCR-220 with quiet fans would do better than a gts with quiet fans. With loud high cfm fans the gts would perform better than a mcr. Many consider the PA 120.X the best rad for quiet fans. So you should base your decision on what type of fans you use.

momoceio Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 For quiet fans you could get some SilenX fans...high air flow and quiet. The Yate Loon medium speed fans are pretty quiet also.

carholmes Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 The thermochill PA series rads would be best for quiet fans. But if you think spending $100 for a rad doesn't makes sence then the Swiftech rad would be better for you. I'd recomend the medium speed yates, moves a good amount of air and pretty quiet, and also only six bucks per fan. Link. Alot of people don't like those SilenX fans since thier cfm rating is way off and they are like $20 a fan.
Thasp Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 SilenX is lying trash. 11, 13 dB? Give me a break. Maybe if you put the fan in your neighbor's apartment, yes. They take advantage of the fact that computer fans have no standard distance to measure volume at. I'd go with the swiftech.

knopflerbruce Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 I have a Thermochill PA120.3, and I'm damn happy with it. I can't compare it to anything lol, but the temps I got were very nice, 28C load with an Opty 175 @ 2900, stock voltage - and that CPU had load temps in the high 50's with my Zalman 9500, and same voltage/CPU freq. carholmes Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 Yea you should seriously consider a thermochill PA120.2 rad. If you're not getting the Thermaochill then get the next best rad for quiet fans, the Swiftech MCR-220. You can find the PA rad at danger den, performance-pcs, Mountain Mods, and possibly a few other places. For the cheapest price on the MCR-220 go to newegg. t_ski Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 IIRC the BIX rads work best with high-flow fans. I have a Swiftech MCR320-QP and I like it a lot. It does very well with the three Yate loon fans I have installed on it. For a better price on the Yate Loon's try here: http://www.jab-tech.com/manufacturers.php?...rerid=17&page=1 The have the Low, Med, and High, as well as some blue LED's. The LED are the most $$ at $6.
