General Septem Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 Have you looked into getting a barebones laptop and building?

General Septem Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 No, point me to a link General I'm not sure offhand where you can get one, but basically what you do is buy the barebones notebook, which is basically the case and motherboard, and then get your CPU, RAM, HDDs, etc. The reason you have to get the motherboard with the case is because there is no standardized form factor for notebooks; the board and case are designed together. I think I started a thread a ways back about it, here it is: http://www.diy-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=62423
Syngensmyth Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 I have looked at a few "bare bones" but never saw the advantage in price / quality. If it works for you, I would love to hear about it.

soundx98 Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 Thanks everyone for the posts and PMs. I'll probably need to make a decision late tomorrow afternoon. Now I am a little confused as I was looking for a "Core 2 Duo" as everyone told me it was so far superior to an X2. Am I right in assuming the "Core Duo" is different than a "Core 2 Duo" and much inferior to a C2D chip? Sorry for n00b questions
Syngensmyth Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 Here is deep review My speed read still says difference is a yawn. Numbers are better though. Unless David's point is deciding factor. 64 bit is not in my world yet funny they don't mention it.

Coors Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 De nada :spam: :spam: :spam: :spam: Report when you finally buy one and how you like it and why, se vous play. Hey I think I might actually remember some French from high school. It's "sil vous plait" isn't it?
Syngensmyth Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 I am using the ebonic version, so let's show a little sensitivity:) :) . Actually it seems to be "s'il vous plait" for some reason.
