southmine Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 If you just want to set up your own (free) server, this is the page you want. My brothers and I set one up to play Guild Wars, and it works pretty well. I had an issue with my router (Linksys) where port forwarding wasn't working, but My brothers D-Link had no such trouble. The other thing to consider is Ventrilo only allows for 8 slots (users/clients) at any given time. Teamspeak, I believe has a limit of 1000. Haven't compared the two as far as performance/resource usage, but my brothers rig is no hell, and Ventrilo doesn't give him any grief (max 8 slots remember). Hope it helps.
