t_ski Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 I've got a VF900-Cu installed on my X1900XT and I used the blue ram heatsinks that came with it. I have a chance to test out some other cooling and I'm looking for suggestions on ways to remove those heatsinks. Do I need to use the hairdryer method? I didn't think it would be wise to just go in there prying away at them. Last thing I need is a dead card...
225Slant6 Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 I have always twisted the Zalman ram heatsinks off. Never had a problem with doing it that way.
t_ski Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 I guess I'm just a little paranoid. Heard too many stories of BGA chips popping off...:eek2:
THEnumber337 Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 You could also run some loops of 3Dmark and put a load on your card and the heat may make it easier to remove the sinks.
