Guest Blooz1 Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 Anybody got any tips on decent ways to clean Zalman "flower" type HS's (7000,7700) easily, preferaably without having to dismount them? My 7000 is gunked up, and canned air won't touch it!
Darkorb Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 u can use something long and pointy to get thick dust out what u mean by gunked up?
dr_bowtie Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 try to loosen it up with a tooth brush...then blow it out....I use compressed air myself at 35 psi with a water filter (but it doesnt get moisture ) a soft bristle brush works best... dab Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 A toothbrush is a good idea, I always used Qtips on my 7000cnps.
Guest Blooz1 Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 Thanks for the suggestions, gang! Thick dust down near the center is the problem - it's been in service for almost 2 years. Any tips on getting under the fan, or should I just "give up" and unmount it for cleaning?
tasr Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 I use a real soft 1'' or 1 1/2" paint brush. The bristles are a lot longer than a tooth brush and you can push the bristles further into the heat sink. The cost is more. I also use an old makeup brush and a camel hair brush to clean the motherboard.
