soundx98 Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 Since "Frozen Tundra Season" is upon us it might be interesting to get the local membership together and scare the neighbors. Bunch of us are talking about an evening at MNPCTech's new facility at the Ivy Arts Bldg in Mpls. December 1st, 15th, or 29th. The following have expressed interest. Post in this thread if you have interest and I'll PM you. soundx98 - Inver Grove Heights sparkyFTW - South Saint Paul shatteredsteel - Grand Rapids Glitch (John) - Grand Rapids Joe - Grand Rapids neezer - Dinkytown Sarah - Dinkytown Uncle David 218 - Duluth Forestorm - Duluth BigD218 - Duluth syngensmith - Alexandria P.S. Forum members from "Sisconsin" are also welcome. But you must promise to refrain from rants such as "Do ya think Brett wil play another year or No?". You will also be required to wear a wedge of cheese on your head (either real or foam) for identification purposes. You might be from Minnesota if.... * You consider it a sport to gather your food by drilling through 18 inches of ice and sitting there all day hoping the food will swim by. * You are proud that your state makes the national news 96 nights each year because International Falls is the coldest spot in the nation * You have ever refused to buy something because it's too "spendy." * Your local Dairy Queen is closed from November through March. * You instinctively walk like a penguin for five months out of the year. * Someone in a store offers you assistance, and they don't work there. * Your dad's sun tan stops at a line curving around the middle of his forehead. * You have ever apologized to a telemarketer. * You may not have actually eaten it, but you have heard of Lutefisk. * You have ever worn shorts and a parka at the same time. * You have either a pet or a child named "Kirby." * Your town has an equal number of bars and churches * You have ever had an entire telephone conversation with someone who dialed a wrong number. * You know how to say Wayzata, Mahtomedi, Edina and Shakopee. * You grew up thinking rice was only for dessert. * You think that ketchup is a little too spicy. * Your daily meals are breakfast, dinner, and supper. * Every January, from age 2 to 13, you let your older siblings talk you into putting your tongue on a steel post. * You consider Lime Jell-O a highly versatile food: a breakfast dish when it is filled with fruit, a salad when it has shredded carrots and a dab of mayonnaise, and a dessert when topped with Dreamwhip. * You never had to rewind any part of "Fargo" because you missed some of the dialogue. * You always believed that vacation meant "going up north." * Your town has an annual festival honoring a fruit, vegetable, or ethnic food. * The first time you saw "Grumpy Old Men," you thought it was a documentary. * You can recite, from memory, more than a half-dozen "Ole and Lena" jokes. * Every time you see moonlight on a lake, you think of a dancing bear, and sing, gently, "From the land of sky-blue waters...Hamm's- the beer refreshing..." * Your dog dies, your spouse leaves you, you lose your job, and your car breaks down, all on the same day, and your first thought is, "It could be worse." * You don't think it odd that there is a heater in the outside Coke machine . * It's ever 60 degrees warmer in your freezer than it is outdoors. * You have ever gone cross country skiing at the zoo. * You have eaten "Hot Dish" and Jell-O salad in the basement of a Lutheran church. * You go to Starbucks, look at the menu, then say "Umm...I'll just have some coffee, thanks." cuoficr Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 Not from either place, but SoundX's jeff foxworthy on minnesota is pretty funny (the first 5 or 6 is the same as jeff foxworthy on miane, so im assuming its jeff foxworthy) so in the winter spirit..... YOU KNOW YOU ARE A TRUE MAINER WHEN: 1. "Vacation" means going South past Augusta for the weekend. 2. You measure distance in hours. 3. You know several people who have hit a deer more than once. 4. You often switch from "heat" to "A/C" in the same day and back again. 5. You can drive 65 mph through 2 feet of snow during a raging blizzard, without flinching. 6. You see people wearing camouflage at social events (including weddings). 7. You install security lights on your house and garage and leave both unlocked. 8. You carry jumper cables in your car and your girlfriend / wife knows how to use them. 9. You design your kid's Halloween costume to fit over a snowsuit. 10. Driving is better in the winter because the potholes are filled with snow. 11. You know all 4 seasons: almost winter, winter, still winter and road construction. 12. You can identify a southern or eastern accent. 13. Your idea of creative landscaping is a statue of a deer next to your blue spruce. 14. You were unaware that there is a legal drinking age. 15. Down South to you means Augusta. 16. A brat is something you eat. 17. Your neighbor throws a party to celebrate his new shed. 18. You go out to fish fry every Friday. 19. Your 4th of July picnic was moved indoors due to frost. 20. You have more miles on your snow blower than your car. 21. You find 0 degrees "a little chilly." 22. You actually understand these jokes, and you tell them to all your Maine friends.

Syngensmyth Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 Soundx98 - 1. I am but 2. I am older than dirt and hate to slow you boys up. 3. I hate to reveal my real stupidity. On the bright side - I do have a GPS in my Escalade so I could find the location.

cmay119 Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 All of those days fall on a friday. I have work obligations (regular 9-5 Shift in Downtown St. Paul) so unless this is going on later at night. I won't be able to swing it. What exactly will we be doing again? I express interest, but it is hard to make free time as of late.
