470hpGS400 Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Forgive my ignorance on the matter as I am starting to get back into updating my rig. I am switching from my current AMD X2 over to Conroe for obvious reasons (after 8 years with AMD). I normally run DFI with my AMD's, but what is the best MB for Conroe? I am looking to run 2x7950GX2 for quad video video cards and overclock like crazy. thanks in advance
pumbertot Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 you should post that question over at xtremesystems if you want a quicker answer.
OldGuy Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 The only DFI that currently supports Conroe is the Infinity 975X/G...even though it is a Crossfire board you can still run SLI with hacked drivers and an SLI bridge. You are going to need a serious PSU to support quad SLI as well. Your choices are very limited for SLI/Conroe right now on a good clocking chipset. I'm sure the RD600 Lan Party will be crossfire and no one knows for sure when that one is actually going to hit the shelves...and wether that one will be able to be hacked to SLI (which is what I need as well for 2 7900gtx cards). Daddyjaxx Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Your only, and I mean only choice, for what you want is the Asus P5N32-SLI Premium board. No native SLI boards overclock worth squat. Some of the SLI boards are lucky to hit 300 FSB.
willow Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 So daddyjaxx, how to you like your 975x/g Conroe setup compared to your DFI Expert/x2 4400+ setup. Please elaborate.
