ConiKost Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 Hello! I got a very strange Problem! I can't set any Multi here! Only 12x works. When setting for example 10x or 11x System is booting also with 12x Multi. All Tools just show 12x as Multi ... So wheres the Problem? ConiKost Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 No? Are you really sure? I also could change the Multi ob the old "normal" AMD64 3200+ ... What a mess ...
red930 Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 ALL AMD 64 cpus should be unlocked downwards. What does CPU-Z say for speed at lower multis?
ConiKost Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 Well, my standard cpu multi is 12x (ergo 2.4GHz ...) When i now set multi to 10x oder 11x CPU-Z, Everest, CoreTemp show still 2.4GHz with 12x Multi!!!
custom_coms Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 Hmm....sounds like a bios/mobo/chipset issue. I'm guessing you don't have a buddy that has a an AM2 mobo you could try your processor in.... I have never heard of an AMD64/X2/Opteron/FX that isn't unlocked DOWNWARDS. All except the FX are unlocked UPWARDS. Is that the latest bios available (I don't have the luxury of owning that fine board so haven't kept track of the bios updates)
marauder16 Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 there are some CPU's that are locked both downwards and upwards, but they seem to be rare, I think I read sth about this somewhere, but I'm not sure where so don't quote me on this. But basically if you can't change the multi in the bios then it's locked, no help there...
soulfly Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 u cant change the multi with the X2 chips, only the fx series is unlocked, only thing u can change is the fsb are you kidding me? all CnQ capable AMD processors are multi unlocked downwards. probably ConiKost had a defect cpu. have you tried installing it on a different mobo? SpursIndonesia Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Yep, something has to give in this problem, whether a defect CPU or a malfunction MoBo that need to be RMA'ed.
old_geekster Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 ALL AMD 64 cpus should be unlocked downwards. What does CPU-Z say for speed at lower multis? They are! I am using 10 as I type.
