LuckyLuciano Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 Which one to choose? I'm looking to buy a A64 3700 but which core? Both are single core at 2200MHz stock speed. Same price (130€). Thx for input
jm76 Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 I'd try to get a San Diego personally since it started out as a single core in the first place whereas the Toledo started out as a dual core chip that has one core that is bad... I've got one of the Toledo core 3700+ and it was super easy to get it up to 2805 MHz (i.e. 255) but I haven't been able to take it one notch further. If you search you'll see that these chips don't seem to clock as well as the San Diegos. Jim
michaelzhao Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 Two different things. San Diego's are single cores, FX-57, 3700+ while Toledo's are dual cores. AMD 4400+ and 4800+. No dual core processors are San Diegos just as no single core processor is a toledo.

There are Toledo core 3700+'s running around and in fact I have one in my system that I'm on right now... Check out this thread: http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=55228 In the second post I have screen shots showing the IHS, the naked chip, and a screenshot of A64 TCaseMax - v1.19 showing that this is a Toledo Core. SeanDude05 Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 If you want to overclock, I'd get the Sandy.
LuckyLuciano Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 I don't want to reach the 3 GHz, just a little overclock... I think I will try the San Diego core because it is a "real" single core CPU. I'm into gaming and a lttle programming, so there is no need for a raped dual core CPU
