Nautilian Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 Hey there guys, I would just like to get some clarification on the 4 pin molex plug on the motherboard next to the PCI-X. To the best of my knowledge that connector is only needed when running in SLi mode. Am I right in saying this or will this have any changing result on system performance when overclocking in terms of stability? Thanks a mil in advance! gil_grissom Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 the power connector near the PCI-E socket is a 4-pin FDD power connection isn't it? It is on my mobo at least. This supplies extra power to the board and so is worthwhile utilising if possible. It will add stability when/if you OC your system as well as running SLI. soundx98 Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 You mean the floppy connector under CPU and above PCI-e? (nevermind) Plug everything in you can. I know it says only needed for SLI but trust us, plug it in bro. Traces are thin and the board can use all the power you give it. CPDMF Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 You can never have too much power available, use all the connections on the board and pick up a splitter to run your floppy if you have to.
