catkicker Posted April 19, 2006 Posted April 19, 2006 Anyone know what the big bumper thing on the front of the truck is? To all the ozzies Don't say anything.
Donski Posted April 19, 2006 Posted April 19, 2006 I looks like the old cow catchers they used to put on the front of trains a 100 years ago. And since you mentioned Ozzies, I would have to guess it's for kangaroos. Just a guess, Kangaroo catcher?
red930 Posted April 19, 2006 Posted April 19, 2006 It looks like a device to clear a parking spot for the better half.
Grunt_Style Posted April 19, 2006 Posted April 19, 2006 sometimes i wish i had that to counter people who pull in front of me. then let off the gas....no breaks....just coast cause they think now that thier in front they should slow down. phelan1777 Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 I second the previous notion. Though I would say it is for clearing brush/over grown plant life on barely used roads, or mostly unpaved relativly smooth roads.
225Slant6 Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 It is for killing deer, moose, cows, pesky varmints, rodents and any thing else that gets in the way. I have seen a few trucks with these, pretty cool if you ask me.

OceanSeasforMe Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 Road warrior accessory kit, nice. I want one as the local deer are prone to bolt at the most inopportune time....
Guest YuKoN Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 the roo catcher looks beefy enough- but around here(the northwest) we'd only get deer and suicidal pets. problem with that design is- no side impact protection. the last deer i hit spun around on impact- leaving an butt and 2 hoof print dent in the passenger door of my truck, so not only the hood and grille were dented, but the door also and the glass blew out. you'd never think a 90 lb doe could do that much damage. I know there's bigger 'roos than that!
KimTjik Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 Since we have a lot of moose up here, I would say that on a truck such a bumper works great, but on a smaller vehicle it doesn't matter much. Ok, maybe you avoid a trashed front, but the real danger is that the some hundred kilos of massive moose body is just in the right height to brutally wipe of the roof and everything else inside on that level. After such a workover it looks nasty...
