Sly_C Posted September 15, 2003 Posted September 15, 2003 what exactly is dual channel and how does it work?
andrusk Posted September 15, 2003 Posted September 15, 2003 (edited) you were right about the million times thing Anyway, in pretty simple terms, dual channel doubles the bandwidth of your memory channel from i think 3.2 gbs a second to 6.4 gbs a second. This leads to better performance on pretty much everything. Hope this explanation helps p.s. I just ordered myself some corsair twinxms 3200 low latency 512mgs or ram! Im so happy! AYoKoNA Posted September 15, 2003 Posted September 15, 2003 (edited) whats the timings on that because im gonna order some dual mushkin pc3200 level II?? Timings are at 222 Edited September 15, 2003 by AYoKoNA
andrusk Posted September 15, 2003 Posted September 15, 2003 The ratings for mine are 2-3-2-6 1T. I know the corsair's a little expensive but you pay for the reliability and great overclockablility.
Sly_C Posted September 15, 2003 Posted September 15, 2003 (edited) thanx, and i've read that the sticks have to be identical for the dual channel to work? you can see what ram i have in my signature, I would ahve to get another one of those for it to work. I couldn't use like a 256 mb of pc2700 along with that? Edited September 15, 2003 by Sly_C

The manufactere is not set in stone but highly recommended and I think they definetly have to be the same size and speed. So run out and get yourself another stick of 512 3200 corsair value ram. nelsma292 Posted September 23, 2003 Posted September 23, 2003 So, if you have only one stick of 512 pc3200, and you run SisoftSandra, it's going to clock you ram as slower then pc3200? When I runSisoft, it's says my ram is terribly slow, comparible to pc2100 ram, but it says it's pc3200. Will it clock it at pc3200 if I put two sticks of 512 in my system instead of one? Or am I doing something else wrong? SiSoftware Sandra System Mainboard Manufacturer : Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. I haven't really noticed super performance in benchmarks, though i didn't run any before dual-channeling, and i haven't tried that sandra thing or whatever it is. You need a 200 MHz FSB to get full performance out of your PC3200. Trios Edited October 5, 2003 by Trios
