OTT Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 I would want to acquire a 7800GT : XFX (the version black is better?) or EVGA? If EVGA ---> standard version or CO version? The CO differ only for copper HS and some extra OC Mhz: is worthy of the greater expense? (+40 euro!) Or is better to go for standard and put some special HS? In this case NV 5 Silencer is good or exists something better ? Thanks you very much for the help!!!
OTT Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 The price isn't really a matter: i would want a very good OC so i want to know witch of these cards perform better for OC! 1) XFX 7800GT(Black?) 2) EVGA 7800GT 3) EVGA 7800GT CO Special HS like NV Silencer 5 (or something better...) make a tangible difference on OC performance? Raphie Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 wouldn't bother for a 7800 aftermarket cooler, the stock one works perfectly fine + it has a HUGE heatsink
SaFrOuT Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 just purchased XFX 7800GT last weekend does 525/1170 without any artifacts, card is not black but green he is talking about this card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16814150124 both XFX and eVGA are the best, but if u will get the eVGA be sure to ge thte versio 516 ro 517 which have a Copper H/S http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16814130249 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16814130256 on the other hand i like the black pcb of xfx with the green light
OTT Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 Thanks to all for the help... I have just read that: the EVGA card often produces some artifacts and is also hot/loud XFX has many defective products and their assistance/service sucks I'm a bit confused!!!
pescadoman Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 I don't know about the hot/loud, just that I love mine. I also know that the Evga service is pretty....really good, know that I think about it. Somehow my COD2 submission got messed up. I called and left a message, not thinking that i would get a callback(how many companies callback nowadays?). They called back TWICE while I was away. I was able to get in touch with them the next day and they solved my problem with no hassles, something I am not used to... I got my COD2 dvd about a week later and have had none of the problems you mentioned with the card.

Raphie Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 i have to disagree, its ok but its cooler and quiter with the NV Silencer 5 Rev 3 Mine idles at 38c and 54c full load. Dunno what the NV3 will do on my board, but compared with the online tests my stock cooling is already lower. Yes the full load blow of the FAN is quite noisy, but then again i use Riva tuner to correct that. Being idle or 2D mode you can't hear the fan at all.
