Went to check it out & broke a fan blade off :confused: So decided Thursday to Replace fan & take time out to strip system down, tidy up & do a few mods i'd been thinking about. Got everything done turned on power nothing. Faint smell of smoke. :drool: Switched off quick. Rechecked everything tried again . No smoke but no start. Getting quite concerned stripped everything backout. Went 2 barebones on wooden table. Checked Components for signs of damage. 1 memory stick, gfx, cpu - Fans run but total hang up on 4 red leds. Clear cmos & ExRoadies Insert key ClearCmos x a good few times.. - No change Getting quite sweaty palmed that my xmas present from the wife is borked 2 weeks b4 xmas Swap cpus to my old winnie 3.5 - Exactly the same no change whatever. Went to bed leaving mobo completely bare on clear cmos. This AM - nothing. Tried a couple of things during day as i thought of them - nothing. Mainly thinking about having to RMA CPU or board. couple of hours ago remembered i had an old PCI gfx card. connected that cleared cmos & switched on with Insert key. :shake: :cool: - We have lift off loaded optimised saved & exited. Was gfx card borked - swapped back to pci-e worked. Was Opteron Borked - swapped back to worked :drool: Still on table barebones will install 2 case tommorow Just posting this to show that persistence (& prayers ) help. Am still not certain what problem was. I try and buy my biatches a lil gift every month or two. New fan, cable, or sheet to dress em up. Then I work em real hard and tell em I love you. Seems to keep 'em quiet for a month or so.
