Geil Ultra (X?) vs OCZ Gold C2

Recommended Posts

Its buy time (in a week anyway). I'm done with a single 512mb stick. Bing on dual channel! Anyway, my orginal budget was $100, but realizing true performance isn't available at that price (no more value vx at that price anyway), I have upped it to more like $125. I am considering these two sets right now (want 2x512mb DDR400):

OCZ Gold C2 (TCC5?):

Geil Ultra X (according to the part number they are, Winbond BH-5?):

I believe the Geil's are the ones in this review:http://www.insanetek.com/review.php?id=34&page=1

The only review I know of of Gold C2 is a user review right here: http://i4memory.com/showthread.php?t=1131

Thanks,

Sam

Yes, I checked out that thread previously. It lists the Geil as BH-5 or TCCD, and being the new stuff, I assume its BH-5 (since TCCD has been replaced with TCC5). Their is no info on Gold C2. Only Gold. So, which is better? I have had good experience in both mine and by best friends build with both Geil and OCZ, so that doesn't help answer my question.

Hello,

At 200Mhz, 2-2-2-5 would be better.

When overclocking what would you like?

250Mhz @2-2-2-5 @3.4v-3.5v and you can use a divder to OC the CPU more.

Or something that is better with 1:1 FSB:dram rato?

Hi, the 3200 Gold is BH5 UTT and runs 2-2-2 timings. The 3200 Gold C2 ha the same chips and runs 2-3-2 timings. If you want the best performance atlower voltages, go for the Gold. ;)
