  2. Btw. PruritusAni, what do you mean with putting them around, so change the slots of every stick ?

Yeah that's what I mean, changing the slots they go into and trying to boot up to see if there's any arrangement that'd work. When I had 4 sticks one of them HAD to be in the 1st slot or nothing would boot up. I tested each stick with MemTest and found no problems, so out of frustration I tried changing the order they went in, and found an arrangement that worked. Pretty weird, but it worked as long as i didn't attempt changing that one stick's slot.

It sucks to hear that your stick is probably dead. You could try running MemTest on that stick and see if you find any errors, and if not maybe some slot swapping is just what you'll have to do. But if instead you do find errors there's really not a whole lot i know of that would resurrect it from the dead. I hope you have better RAM fortunes for your next build.

  3. My P5ND also had similar issues when trying to use 4 sticks on it. It only liked one arrangement of the 4 sticks, and if i tried to switch them around it would result in 2 different beeping patterns at startup (along with a failure to boot). Try permuting the locations of the sticks around and see if there's one configuration that'll work.

Failing that you could always try running MemTest on each individual stick to see if indeed they are all working fully, or even upgrading to the latest BIOS for the mobo.

  4. I enjoyed the STALKER series immensely, but they do have RPG aspects, so that may not be to your liking. Simple mods can help diminish some of the run around (there's quite a bit of modding that you can do to the game files).

I'd also suggest the Saboteur as it's a lot of fun, but it is not FPS. I usually play mostly FPS but The Saboteur was fun despite its 3rd person view.

As far as FPSs go there's not usually a lot of open world involved and there aren't too many games like those you've mentioned. I for one did not like FC2 too much, as I'd played it right after FC1, and was expecting more of that. Come to think of it there really isn't a whole lot like what you're seeking in the FPS world. Usually very linear shooters, going from one place to the next, with nothing but the slaughtering of enemies and sometimes a decent storyline to keep you playing.

While these games are not too much like JC2 and FC2 they are some of the FPSs I've enjoyed most: Painkiller (loads of enemies to be slaughtered in fairly fun ways), No One Lives Forever (really old, but hilarious, mix of stealthy and all out shooting), anything Half Life, Chronicles of Riddick escape from Butcher's Bay (this was surprisingly good, in spite of Vin Diesel), Postal 2 (older violent game, with a lot of fun and mayhem to be had), Metro 2033 (decent story and absolutely gorgeous, but very linear) Singularity (another one with a decent story) ... there really are a lot of FPSs I've played. Youtube for gameplay of these and see if you could get into any of them.

    Hope this helps.

  5. Out of those 4 I didn't even have to think about it. Your dog was the obvious choice. There was no need to appeal to OCC fellowship to influence the vote. I despise tiny dogs, and I was not too impressed with the springer. Hope your dog enjoys her prize.

  6. Well, while it took me a while to sleeve my PSU I'd be game for a new one. So clearly my new specs would be:

NZXT Tempest EVO case w/ XFX Pro750 PSU

ASUS P5ND nForce 750i SLI chipset

    Palit GTS 250 1Gb w/ Thermalright T-Rad2 (2X92mm fans)

    Core 2 Duo E8500 @ 4.0GHz w/ Tuniq Tower 120 Extreme

    2 * 2Gb AData DDR2 RAM, 2 * 1Tb @ 7200 RPM HDD

    Windows 7 Home Premium x64
