bp9801 Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 You've seen the HD 7870 FleX, now see how the big brother compares. Read along to find out how it performs in the OCC review of the Sapphire HD 7950 FleX Dual-X Edition 3GB - http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/sapphire_hd7950_flex_dualx/
IVIYTH0S Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 (edited) I love 7950s....however: (oh it would drop $20....still not as worth it at that difference) Edited July 6, 2012 by IVIYTH0S
airman Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 True, but with the FleX you're also paying for the additional monitor support and saving the requirement of DP adapters (3x DVI monitors) which is nice. Plus some 7950s can be had for $350 (or less) and would have the same performance as this one - meaning if someone plans to overclock and run at 5760x1080 (or other high resolutions), the 7950 may be the better choice over the 670. Oh yeah, I'd buy the 7950 over a 670 for multi monitor any day of the week, the 2GB vs 3GB speaks for itself when it comes to the performance scaling, but are the adapters really necessary?? Can't a 7950 run three monitors with maybe just one adapter purchased (still saving a lot of money)

Can't a 7950 run three monitors with maybe just one adapter purchased (still saving a lot of money) You need at least one active adapter to use Eyefinity on a 7000 series non-FleX card. They go from $20-$30 shipped, each, depending on which size you need (mini-DP or full size).
airman Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Yep, from my understanding the FleX cards have separate clock generators for the Single-Link DVI and the HDMI port, allowing them to be used independently. The Single-Link DVI and HDMI ports on non FleX cards are tied together.
IVIYTH0S Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Oh well I'm not gonna do eyefinity so (but you've made your point )
d6bmg Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 (edited) @General users: Get 2x normal 7950. Running 2 of them in non-crossfire mode will be far more superior than this 'a bit overpriced' 7950. @airman: Good review.
