Ordering hardware

Hello,

 

I'm building a Mini-ITX gaming pc, my budget is $2500 for system hardware.

 

Any feedback about the hardware I've chosen before I order.

Not a bad choice of parts. The Maximus VIII Impact is a great board. The only downside everyone like to hit it with is the lack of an M.2 slot. For my use thats not an issue.

Thanks Frank for the feedback,.. personaly I think the U.2 port smokes the M.2.

 

Would 8GB ram @4133 C19 2x4GB be OK for running todays games,.. instead of 16GB 3200 C14 2X8GB, I can get both kit's for same price.

8GB memory is fine for gaming rig playing most 2016 games.

 

personaly I would go for the 16GB 3200C14 ram over the 8GB 4133C19,.. you will not notice memory speed difference while gaming with your set-up.

The price difference between my 16 GB of DDR4-3200 was very slight between some 2400 mhz stuff. 3200 was actually cheaper than the same brand and model of 3000, which was kind of funny at the time of purchase.

I like it. I would recommend the Corsair H100i GTX closed loop water cooler for the CPU, it's about $30 more than the air-cooled unit you have selected.

The Corsair H100i GTX, and H100i V2 Extreme both have clearance issues due to motherboard design at top mount position.

 

 

I could go with the Corsair H90, with single pull mounted fan in rear 140MM location.

I would go with the capacity rather than the speed at this point. 16GB of 3200 or 3400Mhz memory is a better fit short and long term. Plus you get some cool software tools that come with that board that you can use.
