This is my planned build:

Intel Core i7-4960X Ivy Bridge-E 3.6GHz (Turbo 4GHz) LGA 2011 130W

ASUS Rampage IV Gene LGA 2011 Intel X79

CORSAIR Dominator Platinum 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 Desktop Memory Model CMD16GX3M4A1866C9

ASUS VG248QE Black 24" 144Hz

SAMSUNG 840 EVO MZ-7TE1T0BW 2.5" 1TB SATA III TLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Cooler Master HAF X

CORSAIR HX Series HX1050 1050W

Logitech G930 USB Connector Circumaural Wireless Gaming Headset

Microsoft JR9-00011 Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for Windows 2 pieces

NZXT Kraken X60 RL-KRX60-01 Ultra Performance Water/Liquid CPU Cooler 280MM

CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD - PFC Sinewave UPS Systems – Pure Sine Wave | 100% Active PFC compatible

Power Bright VC1500W Voltage Transformer 1500 Watt Step Up/Down converter 110/120 Volt - 220/240 Volt

So I am now thinking of getting a 256 gb SSD intead of the 1 tb one and an external 1 tb for storage.I need ways to spend the extra 350 on gaming hardware/anything that will improve my gaming experience.I won't need a 2650x1600 monitor though.

IMO it's a waste of money for a gaming build.

Also, what's a 790?

This build is way overkill and more a bragging rights than efficient gaming build. What monitor and resolution are you looking to use?

Understood, but since you're building a gaming rig why are you getting a 4960X? Especially for 1920x1080 gaming...

Because why not ? It's only overkill if you can't afford it :P

But I have no idea what you are doing with a Rampage IV Gene in a massive case like the HAF-X...

i7 4770K | Corsair H105

ASUS Maximus VI Hero | ASUS GTX780 Ti
Corsair Vengeance Pro 2400MHz 4x4Gb | Corsair AX860i
Cooler Master Storm Trooper | Seagate Barracuda 2Tb

I can afford lots of things, that doesn't automatically make them not overkill.
