  1. okeay, i knwo noone cares, but i found out what the problem with the memoryes was: "Odd divider correct" was ENABLED... for the temps: 48-50*C @ idle /w the 12cm Spire fan blowing at ~1200rpm, load temps are 70ish...but it is stable...will post an OCDB entry soon. if anyone has similar misreading problems please post here, to help me out.ss
  2. what are your temps with stock speed? as5 drops maximum 5* C
  3. congrats! but try it with a lowe voltage...try it with 1.35 + 110% or so...u don't wanna kill your memcontroller or do you? usually 1.55 for an opty is water territory....wouldn't dream to rise mine over 1.5V. don't know the default voltage for single cored opterons but usually for air cooling +0.20V is the maximum the memcontroller can handle. also i read something about optyes not working well with TCCCs, i don't know about hyunix chips, but the artical stated that BH-5 is best for opterons... i can tell that with my winchester cored 3000+ my geils where running slower (222) and with the opty i reached 233 @ 2-3-3-5, didn't tested the corsairs (TCCC) yet with the winie, but if i find the time i will
  4. first, it's spelled Q-L-R not G-I-R.... i'm talking about the fsb, but cpu-z calls it htt...so my bad, i ask again: what is the maximum stabil FSB with 1:1 mem:fsb ratio?
  5. what's the maximum stabil HTT with 1:1 ratio? 3-3-5-2 latencyes? why? i don't belive setting the Tras so low will have any positive effect on memorye bandwith... but negative effect on stability...try it with 2.5-3-3-6 or so...
  6. reached 90*C with my Barton 2500+ @ 2266Mhz...it waz a hot day, and the hsf was oxidated...the cpu still runs great...bless you auto turnoff funcion in case ur wondering it was a thermaltake volcano 11+ and i do NOT RECOMMAND it at all... my ponit is: it can run smooth even at 70*C and doesn't die (instantly) at 90*C
  7. hehe, 8h prime, no errors till now....i will post an OCDB entry soon...i hope till that can anyone answer this: why is cpu-z showing me 234Mhz for the corsairs when i set the fsb to 280, divider to 180? souldn't that be 250ish? and why is EVERYTHING going better with fsb: 280, div:180, timeings: 2-3-3-5-1T, than with fsb: 250, div: 200, timeings: 2.5-3-3-6-1T? (yes i know the cpu mhz is higher, but even everest's memory benchmarks are better) for that matter why can i set tighter timeings with the 180 divider?
  8. the gpu is low cause i modded the bios to give less volts and mhz to the GPU on 2D, also there is a zalman tingie on it (see sig) that run's at 33% in 2D and cools nicely. the chipset is low cause there is a 12cm fan pushing air directly to it mounted on the side panel. also there is an uv neon at the bottom of the case, what is warm (not hot...)like the upper neon my volts are 1.325 + 110% what sould give 1.4575, but i get ~1.43 in Windows, becous my lame PSU i supose. i belive that the PSU is overloaded and warms up the upper part of my rig it has 2x 8cm fans, and they supose to change to higher rpms at high temps, but i can't hear them go faster...maybee they well made, and are very quiet, but doub that
  9. Europe, Romania, Transylvania (where Dracula was "invented")
  10. i hate 8cm fans! they don't do anything for the noize they make! also i don't belive i could fit any fan's at the top....maximum a 12cm between the combo and the psu, and i don't belive that would make sightly difference. i luv my liddle chembro case, changeing it for a bigger one is out of question. also i just checked: dual prime is still running (~2 hours); all fans at maximum, temps look like this: PWMIC: 67* C CPU: 67* C Core0: 83* C Core1: 70* C Chipset: 43* C GPU: 38* C GPU diode: 51* C GPU ambient: 32* C HD0: 39* C
  11. you'r right the 2nd core halts after an hour or two, i'm now running it at 280x10....prime stabil so far (would be nice to be a member of the 3G club ) also a question to EVERYONE: why is cpu-z showing me 234Mhz for the corsairs when i set the fsb to 280, divider to 180? souldn't that be 250ish? and why is EVERYTHING going better with fsb: 280, div:180, timeings: 2-3-3-5-1T, than with fsb: 250, div: 200, timeings: 2.5-3-3-6-1T? (yes i know the cpu mhz is higher, but even everest's memory benchmarks are better) for that matter why can i set tighter timeings with the 180 divider?
  12. 1. where do i buy it (in romania)? 2. i don't think it would fit with the HUGE mine
  13. i changed the zalman to the mine...no drop in the temperatures i belive i will clock it back to 280x10 and use it that way.... to answer my question on an opty cpu clocked to 290x10 at full load (dual prime) they perform the same. On the other hand i observed, that at 280x10 in idle the mine performed well widouth the use of the 12cm fan. I belive that's becouse the huge size of the sink and the two 12cm fans near to it (specially the rear exhaust). I kept it over night, my tuner app was running (i always do that) wich has a deinterlace filter that uses ~20% of the cpu, and the cpu reached a maximum of 53* C. With the Zalman i used to set the cooler to ~1200rpm in idle to achieve that. Another thing i observed is that the PWMIC is sightly higher with the mine (+5* C) than with the zalman, i belive that's becouse the zalman pushes air toward the PWMIC sensor, and the mine don't. The memories fit better with the mine, but it is way higher than the zalman, therefore i had to remove my hard from the side panel (yes i have a harddisk on the side panel) to fit it in my case. In my opinion: they perform the same at high load, the mine performs a bit better in idle; the zalman looks better, is heavyer (almost double as the mine), cools the surroundings better, but is way harder to install and fit into your board, specially with big memory modules as my corsair XMS's. If you would like to see a review comparing the zalman to the mine and some asus low budget cooler featuring my opty and my winie, and comparing the zalman and the mine and a volcano 11+ featuring a Barton 2500+ clocked at 207x11 with pictures and stuff than drop a line couse i ain't have plans for the weekend
  14. Basically it's like this: you'r in a bar, sitting at a table, searching for your lighter couse you wanna light your cigar up, 1. you check in your pants (cache level 1) [fastest thing to do] but you can't find it, 2. you stay up to go to your jacket (cache level 2) [second fastest but sightly slower, also more chance to find it there (level 2 is bigger)] if you didn't find it there eiter, 2a. (if exist) backpack or whatever bags you carry with you (cache level 3) 3. you ask someone (memory) for a light...no luck? 4. you go and buy a lighter in the next supermarket or 24/7 (swap memory or page file). if you cant find any than chances are that you end up with a BSD Stupidest analogy ever if u don't smoke....hope it helps and doesn't cause cancer also, a very good article (like for most things) can be found at wikipedia. direct link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CPU_cache#Multi-level_caches hope it helps
