  1. Cripes everybody say THANK YOU. Very well done first time I've logged on in a while saw the thread and thought you wrote it for me as I just today ordered the evercool after lsitening to my stock cooler reving up for another take-off at 7000+ rpm. Angry very well done easy to follow your audio and video was fine (cripes guys give him a break). Had no problems with download speed took 10 mins (everybody go get yourself a cup of joe and relax for a min). Now if I could get you to do a video on overclocking the Lanparty sli that would be a real bonus!. Again thanks great job very helpful and keep up the great work
  2. I have been using the setup in my Sig for the past few months. After an initial false start using different memory I finally broke down and bought the OCZ memory. I have been very stable, no overclocks, my temps are all well within spec and everything was great. Over the past few days things have been a little wonky. I am a gamer and all of the sudden I've been getting memory sanity check errors in BF2. Thinking it was the program I uninstalled it and then reinstalled, same errors. I ran Memtest86 for 9 hours last night with errors in the same location for 15 out of 16 passes on test 5. Sharp says in his post to ignore that error can you explain why. I'm now testing the sticks seperately but if test 5 can be ignored then I'll stop. Both sticks are in the orange slots. Thanks guys
  3. This is an issue with the chipset when you use 4X512 it runs them at 2T you can try changing them to 1T but it's a carp shoot. I finally gave up and bought 2x1024 sticks and have been quite happy since
  4. hmmm I understand the limited which you're seeing in network connections can you look in your device manager ie start > control panel > System > Hardware > device manager look under network adapters. Right click select properties click driver tab verify you're using the latest driver. By soft firewall I assume you mean the one that came on your installation disk. And I'lll ask the obvious again your cable modem doesn't have a built in UPS does it all light should be off when you power it down for 3 min (according to RoadRunner)
  5. I'm sure this is a dumb question but.. Have you 1 powered your cable modem down 2 hooked your new PC directly into the cable modem via cat cable 3 powered the cable modem up after being off min of 3 min 4 powered the PC up? Again I'm sure you have but I find if you eliminate everything in between routers, wireless etc you can quickly zero in on the problem item. PS in device manager both nics show up as working no problems?
  6. Try powering your cable modem down. I use RoadRunner and every now and then when setting up a new PC I need to power it down before it recognizes the new PC. Make sure you disconnect the battery pack if it has a UPS.
  7. 64 Obvious you only need this PSU for an 64 bit processor.....or a 939 socket.... or a p "4" EE hmmmmm I guess logic doesn't work in a random probability situation
  8. Now AG if this was the way the memory thread had gone I'd understand your frustration. BTW I finally capitulated and ordered 2 OCZ 1gig plats should be here in the next few days
  9. Thanks Thunda all this maybe clear to you guys but I searched the forums and couldn't seem to confirm that. Now onto the other settings. BTW everybody should read the overclocking guide for an explantion on HTT and LDT and also the Memory guide. The memory FSB was very confusing until I read that article and the memory guide really helps explain what all the bios setting do. Thanks guys This ain't your fathers P4 machine!
  10. I've been playing around with my system for awhile now I and with Bios 704-3 it pretty stable, no overclocking at all so far. Is it fair to say that if all four memory slots are full that I can only run at 2T. Anytime I set CPC to 1T or even Auto it requires a cmos reset. Thanks
  11. I'm using the setup in my sig with all four mem slots filled. I've only been able to run stable with a mem ratio of 6:5 or 166 which the MB seems to default to. If anyone has been sucessful at getting this memory, in this configuration, to run at a 1:1 or 200 fsb either please post your memory setting or better yet provide an A64tweaker screen shot it would be appreciated. Great forum. I wish DFI would support it by providing the various memory brands for RGone and AG to test. Reading the forum's it seems as though getting various memory brands is the largest issue people are dealing with.
  12. I agree with all of the above posts. This is my first DFI board and I'm running the same memory. The two do not always play nice together but you can get it to work, after that it does require tweaking. At this time I'm not optimized but getting there, so if several hours(daysweeks) of playing around in your BIOS makes you uncomfortable then look at another board the ASUS gets good reviews. On the other hand this board will make you a better PC builder I'm enjoying mine alot!. Especially playing BF2 at over 90FPS maxed out . I will caution you on trying to fill all four slots, mine only runs stable at ddr333 (OC with a fsb of 240), when I remove two sticks it will jump up to ddr400 but the timings need to be changed then. Consider selling your sticks to a friend and buying a different memory cause this board prefers something else.
  13. I'm a BF2 guy so I have seen mem usage when palying exceed 1.3gigs. I'll try the 2T and see if I can keep the OC at 220. Thanks for the input.
  14. I'm pretty happy in that I've finally got things stable but as always we've got to keep poking that dog with a stick. I currently have all 4 memory slots filled with 2 sets of Corsair Twinx1024-3200xl for a total of 2 gigs of ram. Originally I set up the mem to FSB at 1:1 and had quite a few stability issues. After reading in a forum that the N4 wanted the memory FSB to be 166 instead of 200 I changed the FSB to Mem to 6:5. That has lead to a stable system, I am beginning the OC process and have bumped the FSB up to 220X12 and the memory FSB has increased accordingly. My question is should I remove two sticks of memory and run at 1:1 or keep the 4 sticks in and satisfy myself with a lower clock sped on the memory. I primarly game and video encode. Thoughts are appreciated with input for Angry and RG especially looked for.
  15. After playing BF2 or any game I check SmartGuaridan and also see high chipset temps what are the acceptable temps for this chip set? Light to no load I see CPU 36C fan at 5600 PWMIC 42C and Chipset 48C fan at 65-7k. gaming the CPU gets up to 46C and the chipset shoots up to 52-55C. terrible place right under the Video card. Should I be worried? thought or insights appreciated.
