WD Raptor 74Gb

I got one today... so after installe my pc reconizes it as a removalble drive meanin that i dont see the drive in "My Computer" but I do on the device manager and the "Safely Remove Hardware"

 

Can sombody explain this please?? :confused:

You need to assign the drive a letter and format it. To do this go to Start, Control Panel, Performance and Maintenance, Administrative Tools, and then Computer Management.

 

Go to Disk Management, and then format the raptor drive, and assign a drive letter to it.

SATA is a removeable device spec. It will always be there!

Thanks A LOOOT guys now ill copy my boot drive to the raptor format the old drive and ill should be good to go right??

For some reason every time I disconect the old drive to from the raptor it give me a boot disk faliure... can anybody help?

You might need to define a raid array, add only the Raptor to that array, make sure it's set to mode 0 (striping, which is default for 1 drive I believe), and set it as the boot array. Then, assuming you have boot to sata set and formatted the drive correctly, it should boot from it.

So after i make a copy of the HDD do I have to make anything special to boot from that disk or to make it the system disk??
