uwackme Posted June 16, 2004 Posted June 16, 2004 Bootvis is cool... but remember to turn OFF the CPU-disconnect function before using it....will hang otherwise. Also, the clearpagefile on shutdown has a side benefit (sux otherwise though) that this is a defacto CACHE FLUSH for the drive the pagefile is on.... remember the old WindowsXP/2K doesnt issue the "FLUSH" command to SCSI (er any PCI based disk controller) on shutdown. Superceded by KB331958 that fixes windoze. Just though I'd mention it.

Cleaning the page file has pros and cons... pro: security of your data con: slows down your shutdown by a large margin dunno bout the flush though

elts_drac Posted August 4, 2004 Posted August 4, 2004 Just be careful disabling services in XP because BAD things can happen and for some of them there is no way to reverse it other than a fresh install!!!

Yep. Definately DO NOT disable RPC (remote procedure call) And disabling the decrypter service in XP does not let you install DX9 anymore
