Bizzlenitch Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 Hey, guys, I'm trying to run Memtest on a couple sticks of memory, only problem is I don't have a floppy drive. Is it possible to run memtest from a CD? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
capthowdy575 Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 i think you can run it from a flash drive if your board supports it.
Praz Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 To make a bootable CD. Pre-Compiled Bootable ISO (.zip) If you have a bootable flash drive unzip the following and copy the EXE to it. EXE file for USB Key (Pure DOS)
Bizzlenitch Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 Thanks, guys. I got it figured out. A bit more searching on the memtest website would have answered my question immediately. ::brushes the extra noobness off::
hardnrg Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 I like the DOS version (doesn't require burning a CD and then finding it whenever I need to run memtest!!! that gets old really fast, I have about 6 memtest CDs dotted around from pure frustration of not being able to find the cd...), and run it from a flash drive... see link in sig for guide
Bizzlenitch Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 One more quick question: should I run memtest on each stick individually or is it acceptable to run it with both sticks in dual channel mode? Thanks again guys.
Praz Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Dual channel is fine. If errors are report then one stick at a time to isolate the errors.

Bizzlenitch Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Well, seven passes without any errors, I'm going to assume the sticks are fine. A full 12-24 round of tests will just have to wait until I don't need to use the computer (ha, like that happens very often!).
