suchuwato Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 Hey, I'm looking for a distro (live cd) that already has good disk diagnostic/repair tools in. Any ideas?
kingdingeling Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 What exactly are you trying to diagnose?
suchuwato Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 I've got no idea. I'm going over to a friend's house in a bit - and he reckons his HDD is buggered. Can't elaborate sorry

hardnrg Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 you could create a BartPE disc and enable all the disk utils, and download other plugins... I build mine from XP Pro SP2 ERD Commander is similar, another live cd that looks like XP
Andrewr05 Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 (edited) UBCD has a plethora of filesystem/hard drive utilities Also SystemRescueCD seems good SimplyMEPIS 7.0 has a bunch of features too, if I remember correctly... shatteredsteel Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 (edited) Another vote for UBCD, or a BartPE Disk. I use both when doing Diagnostics and I have an Anti-virus/Malware on them. Very useful. EDIT: forgot about Backtrack great for checking for bad sectors or doing file recoveries Edited May 11, 2008 by shatteredsteel
