Recovering RAID array?

SwayNet

Recommended Posts

Ok, my motherboard just died. Like, absolutely died and I cannot find a single place in this country where I can buy a replacement for it.

I have 2 hard drives in a RAID-0 array, (stupid of me for doing so and not backing stuff up) I have very valuable files on there that I need.

My question is, can I get a new motherboard and transfer my RAID hard drives over to it without reformatting them?

If I have not made this post clear enough, please say so.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

what i would try is getting the new mobo and see if it can transfer without having to do anyhting ...

if it works great .....

if not you would have to try a repair install of windows xp to get the proper drivers for the mobo ...

if that doesnt work ... hopefully someone else has some ideas beyond mine

Different mobos/controllers implement RAID in different ways. RAID-0 on one computer could be vastly different from RAID-0 on another computer. Find out what RAID controller your mobo uses and try to find something that's the same.
