Shaggy Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 so, i was running out of disk space on my hard drive. got a second hard drive, the exact same brand and size. figured i would raid 0 these suckers together. does this require me to completely reformat my original hard drive or can i still keep everything on my existing hard drive? sasybotnoodlehead Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Generally, RAID requires you to format your drives so I recommend you do a backup before anything else.
ClayMeow Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 RAID-0 is Striping, meaning all data gets split in half and saved onto each hard drive. So yes, you'd have to reformat. Why not just add it as a secondary drive and then you don't have to worry about reformatting. Why do members suddenly have this fascination with RAID without even reading up on it??
