gotdamojo06 Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Which processor has a better overclocking potential...a AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Clawhammer or an AMD Athlon 64 3700+ Sandy? They both are 2200MHz at stock speeds...reason I ask is because I have t he clawhammer and Raven65 has the Sandy up for sale at a resonable price ($59) shipped to me...so is there going to be a big speed increase or not? BTSchnarfy Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 The 3700+ San Diego will OC farther. It's built on the 90nm process (versus 130nm for your Clawhammer), should require less voltage for the same OC, and had a better memory controller. However, depending on how far your chip will go, it may not be a worthwhile investment.

Uber Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Sany for sure, most 3700+'s will hit 2.8+Ghz

gotdamojo06 Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 well considering that the 3500+ come in only venice or clawhammer, it would defently be one of those
kingdingeling Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 before you buy anything, OC this chip to see how far it will go. If this does 2.6-2.8, then no need to upgrade IMO. Rather get a better vid card/RAM
