tarkins Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 I just found this amazing video from Harvard University. It is amazing for 2 reasons: the graphic are pretty good and everything you see in this video are actually real mechanisms that happen in the cell! I'm impressed, a must see: http://aimediaserver.com/studiodaily/video...&height=520 sorry if this is an old video
hardnrg Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 that's pretty cool... is all that going on in a single cell?
Kash Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 Not too old, was on Digg about a week ago. It's an amazing video. Yes, it's all going on inside a single cell, and surprisingly, it's what things inside actually look like. The only creativeness that was added to it would be all the empty space. They added that so that everything wouldn't looked "smooshed" together. Other than that, it's all realistic. Now just imagine all those processes in that single cell occurring all over your body TRILLIONS of times over
Kamikaze_Badger Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 Not sure if it's 100% realistic (but if it were, it would be 100% boring too ), but it's very accurate for a eukaryotic cell. And like Kash said, they added more space .

romeo55 Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 Looks cool... It would've been nice if they told us what we were looking at All I recognized was Blood Vessels Bacteria Rna replication Fungi Red/White blood cells... I was still going "cool.... so what is it?" 75% of the time
Kamikaze_Badger Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 Golgi apparatus I noticed, and whateverthetermis with the bilipid layer getting rid of waste... transfusion? I don't have my biology book with me.
Silverfox Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 i dont have a clue about any of that. the pretty colours kept me entertained - that's all that matters!

You can also see part of the cytoskeleton (actin and microtubules), the "walking" protein is the kinesin and you can also see the pair of centrioles. The RNA translation by the ribosome is well done too.
Kamikaze_Badger Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 I believe that it also showed the phospholipids forming microtubules? But yea, it was rather accurate content-wise. I'm assuming that you confused the various organelles with fungi, Unforgiven .
gotdamojo06 Posted December 18, 2006 Posted December 18, 2006 Wow, its amazing how syncranized (sp) the cells in our bodies can be if we take care of them, I really like this video, thanks for posting it...
