KillTheInnocent Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 (edited) well im goin to get a small upgrade for my pc, i can either get the 1mb lvl 2 cache 4000 San Diego processor @ 2.4ghz ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16819103529 ) OR the entry lvl of the dual cores x2 3800 ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16819103562 ), theyre very close in price thats y im havin a hard time choosing, my rig is mostly for games like FEAR CS:S BF2, so FPS games.... which would most likely boost up performance the most? i tried doin some benchmark searches but couldnt fimd that many. at this point in time im averagin 60fps give or take 10 in almost all those games, FEAR can shew up my frames easily at times. Current set up: AMD 3200 2.0ghz pc3200 1gb <---- upgradin to OCZ platinum also 360gb hd MSI SLI nforce4 ATI x850xt <-- oce'd to PE Edited August 15, 2006 by KillTheInnocent
HomerJaySimpson Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 If you're only gaming, i would go with the single core... You should probably get a 3700 Sandy, they can overclock to 4000 speeds easily
caffeinejunkie Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 Well my last cpu was a 3700 that I ran 24/7 @3ghz. I now have a 3800x2 @2.7ghz (still pushing) and I must say this thing just feels fast. Best part is even at 2.5ghz it matches my 3700 @3ghz in all 3dmarks even though almost all of them arent optimized for dualcore. Eiter way I imagine youd be happy but if I had the choice placed before me it would be 3800 all the way.
fire_storm Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 Go with the 3800 X2. When I went from a singal core to a dual core cpu I noticed a preformance increase. Its also more future proffed.
