HomerJaySimpson Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 I've decided to get rid of my motherboard as it's driving me nuts! So today i bought another X800XT only a PCI-E version and i'm gonna get rid of my AGP version. I'm thinking of buying an Asus A8N-SLi Premium, but will this board accept my gfx card? Are they just setup differently for SLi and don't make a difference for single gfx cards?

bigred Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 for that video card I would still recomend an ATI chipset on the mobo. pickup an A8R-MVP. Far cheaper, faster board, overclocks well, and so far rock solid on all 4 I've got up and running. not to mention you could later add crossfire to it. sdy284 Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 as usual, bigred has a much better answer but now that he says that, the A8R-MVP would be a much better choice
HomerJaySimpson Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 Will look into it, though i was planning on ditching ATI, only staying with them for the moment cause it was all i could afford... Time to do a bit of research...
Encrypted_God Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 Yea, that will be my next Mobo (A8R-MVP) thanks to bigred. I am currently weaning off of my current L.P. nForce3 250G (& struggling a great deal with this)
hardnrg Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 pretty much ANYthing is gonna be better than an Abit via board hehe
bigred Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 the A8R-MVP is the first Asus board I've seen for AMD processors since the A7V333 that was worth it's weight in anything besides cow dung. it's a quality board at a very reasonable price. I still want to know what in god's name happened to the review I wrote of it I think it covered the few minor issues I had and showed just how minor they were. Price an A8R-MVP next to most name brand SLI boards and you'll be shocked that it's a lot cheaper. now it's big brother the A8R32-MVP isn't exactly cheap, but it's also the 939 overclocking champ... not to say little brother does a bad job there. FX-60's over 3.8ghz isn't too shabby.
Guest FxXP Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 The Marvell NIC is a little buggy on the A8R-MVP. That is my only pet-peeve about that board. Other than that, can't beat the price for its' performance.

Hey, let's not be dissing cow dung. Many farmers find it quite useful as fertilizer
HomerJaySimpson Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 I've gone ahead with the A8N for a future SLi setup...I'll probably build a crossfire rig aswell though... Anybody wanna buy an AV8?
