A64 3500, 3700, Opty 148 Venus?

Recommended Posts

Which one is best for gaming? I know the Opties have great success on air cooling with overclocking given the right steppings, but is it all that great for gaming? And is the difference between the 3500 and 3700 big enough to warrant the extra cash? All socket 939.

Go with the 3700= sandy I think it's a good core. works well with gaming and is just as good or better than the oppy.

3500+: 10X multipler, 512kb L2 cache, 2.0ghz

3700+: 11X multiplier, 1mb L2 cache, 2.2ghz

Opteron 148: 11X multiplier, 1mb L2 cache, 2.2ghz

Anything else you need to know?

If you can afford it get the Opteron 146 or 148...

Bit of a correction on that, the 3500+ is 2.2ghz with an 11x multiplier, only difference is the 3700+ san diego has 1mb cache and the 3500+ has 512kb cache.

Sometimes I wish my 3500+ was a 3700+. I really would've liked having 1MB L2. :( Go with the sandy. :P
