Suggestion: Allow Off-site Avatars

I say keeping them small is the way to go, long sigs and huge avatars take away from the post. I personally use less than the limit for both images, I shuld prob redice quality further for the under privlaged. Heck even with broadband instant page laods are better than an extra 2 sec to load useless images.

I agree. I'm on broadband and some threads still take an annoyingly long time to display because of loading all of the avatars/sigs, especially if you "go to last unread post".

 

How do you reduce quality?

You can go to GIFWorks and resize an animated .gif without taking it apart.

It would be nice to allow off-site avatars, so that if one so wanted, one might be able to setup randomized avatars using a method such as jammin's sig pics.

then that defeats the purpose of cached images. Just as with jammin's random sigs, you have to load it each time, which is rather annoying.
