Phil Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 Last year I bought a bunch of domains at Yahoo!, now they're up for renewal. Yahoo! currently is offering new domains @ 2.95/year (regular price $9.95), but it doesn't say what it costs to renew. So I wrote customer support to ask, here's the reply: Hello Philip, Thank you for writing to Yahoo! Customer Support. We will be happy to assist you with your inquiry about your account. In order to review your account, please reply with the following information: * Yahoo ID * Domain name * Date of Birth * Any one of the following: [Zip Code, Alt Email Address, Street Address, or Phone Number] Once we have this information, we'll be happy to investigate the matter that you have described. Thank you again for contacting Yahoo! Customer Care. Regards, Edward Yahoo! Billing Whaaaa? Are they telling me that their fee schedule is proprietary information??? What I think they're telling me is: "We lure you in with a low price, then dry ream you on the automatic renewal" So I need to find a place to transfer and park the domains for as reasonable price as possible, any suggestions? d3bruts1d Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 As I've posted before, I use GoDaddy.com for all my domains. Register, transfer, hosting, etc. To xfer a domain to GoDaddy, I think it's like $7.00 (depending on the TLD), but that also includes a 1-year extension on the name. Phil Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 I'll check out GoDaddy, thanks. I guess I'm finding out the hard way that the "new" price of a domain isn't neccesarily the "real" price.
Nerm Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 catalog.com is pretty good and cheap for domains. I think it was only $7.99 last time I checked.
suchuwato Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 yeah, although the registering fee for ICANN is only $.25 there's always a load of hidden costs. Even with the hosts that claim to be honest. Lots of them also only have that price so long as you purchase their overpriced hosting plans also.
