OptikaliLLusion Posted September 4, 2005 Posted September 4, 2005 I need a good program that will take video and audio from a DVD and convert it to DivX. I know that DVD Decrypter can rip DVDs but I just want the video and audio of the main movie (in this case Little Nicky). I tried AoA Converter but I realized the hard way it won't convert the whole thing if it is the trial version. Any free converters (legally free of course )? gunak87 Posted September 4, 2005 Posted September 4, 2005 GordianKnot with the XviD codec? You'll have to do some learnin' to get it done right, but I believe that should work Check out doom9.net, it's a great resource for what you're doing. sykocus Posted September 4, 2005 Posted September 4, 2005 I like autoGK guide myself, for it's simplicity. http://www.doom9.net/autogk.htm
OptikaliLLusion Posted September 4, 2005 Posted September 4, 2005 Gordian is not only complicated, it also made my laptop sluggish o.O gonna try autoGK

OptikaliLLusion Posted September 4, 2005 Posted September 4, 2005 I know, but this was uniquely slow.
cybergrunt69 Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 Is the output format/codec super-important? You could always use the ever-popular 'mplayer' in Linux, but I'm not really sure if it'll do divx It's a simple command line - I'm ripping one right now - goes from a 5.5gb vob to 1.3gb avi
OptikaliLLusion Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 Don't have Linux, but AutoGK seems to be doing well so far.
