Big Problem, Please Help ....

Recommended Posts

I have buy the parts and bring it to local computer store, they build the rig for me, tested Run it and it all goes good such as memory test, 3D mark 05 etc.

No window 98/XP are installed.

When I bring my rig home and connected to CTR monitor, all fans are lighted up and working fine, there is also the beeb* sound when the comp start (which is normal according to the local computer store), but the monitor won't show anything, its all blank (or screen is completely black). So I went to my friend's house to and test my system to see if it is just my Old DELL PC monitor hate my new rig.

My friend's monitor is Samsung CTR and same results happen, screen is black. (my friend said even this is a fresh computer with no window xp installed, there will be at least some thing show up at the monitor, not completely black).

What shall I do? What is wrong with my new rig since memory test and 3Dmark05 all run good? Please help.....I am really frustrated.......I have waited for a month for this computer to arrive and spend alot on it....I don't want it breaks.....

Is the grafix card fully inserted into the slot? Could anything have been disconected on the inside taking it home from the store? Is the power suply set to 115, or 220, it needs to be on 115. There is a switch near the powe cord.

It's on the back of the power supply by the plug, there should be a little hole in the PS with a red sliding indicator that says either 115 or 220 (2__ something - I can't switch mine to tell since they are all running). Make sure the power cord is unplugged before you change it.

That sure as hell will NOT be your problem.

IF your fans are on, the Power is set correctly already.

If that switch was set wrong, nothing would happen at all. (Unless you plugged it into a 230V outlet set to 115V, then everything would fry)

How did you run 3Dm05 without windows btw?

If you get one single beep when you turn the comp on that means that everything inside is fine, usually anyway. But my guess is that your vid card has been dislodged from the agp slot. You should tell us what components you have as well, that will help. And be more descriptive about the beep. Does it beep as soon as you turn the comp on? does the power come on and then it beeps a while later? is it one short beep/long beep/multiple beeps?

The other thing that may have happened is the P4 power connector may havecome out and that will cause only the fans and stuff to work. But all this guessing is pointless you may as well take it back to the guys that built it and ask them :)

will someone PLEASE find out what that is, your the third person on this forum I know that has this problem, and never have figured it out.

I had a chaintech Zenith motherboard that did the same thing, what a peice of junk, got an MSI board and it booted up just fine.

On most motherboards, most newer ones anyways, 1 beep means all is well, the motherboard did not detect any errors while starting up. So it must be another problem, possibly Moniter, Moniter Cable or Video Card.

Check if your motherboard has onboard video, if so, then plug in the monitor to it and try that. I know it souinds stupid but i have seen it done before.

Also your BIOS may be set to boot PCI first, if so try to get your hands on a PCI Vidcrd so you can at leats change the BIOS settings to boot AGP.
